Snowboarders were flipping over in the air on Friday, February 26 at Diamond Peak’s Rail Jam competition, and the weather was a sunny warm 57 degrees.  Out of the hundred spectators a half dozen were seen wearing shorts and t-shirts. This was one fine day to be out playing in the snow.

Felix Mobarg won a snowboard for first place. Long time snowboarder, and former student Eric Verillo won second place which included $30 in cash, a free tune for his board and some merchandise. “Felix Mobarg has an interesting style to watch and did several one foot runs including a one-foot back flip,” Verillo said. “It was a good turn out and it was fun; definitely a good time snowboarding with friends. Third place went to Matt Schaffer.”

The participants were judged on eight runs. The lowest scoring run was not counted in the final judgment. Diamond Peak Ski Resort is located 1.5 miles from the college at 1210 Ski Way, Incline Village. The next and last Rail Jam is scheduled for Friday March 26, and the DJ after party will be sponsored by the SGA.
